When there is a gap, we do not see it
When we don’t see it, yet, we feel the difference
We feel the difference but deny the gap
We don’t accept the gap because of the difference
We try to erase the difference even if it’s a gap
We try to erase the gap and deny the difference
The gap is not different and the difference is not the gap
In every gap, there is a difference.
Grey area – the gap in between, is a performance looking into what is considered normal in everyday life of Thai society, through the macro perspectives of Nophand Boonyai and Dujdao Vadhanapakorn, asking the question about the gap between the social classes and the struggle for higher status that creates a conflict that is virtually visible but acceptable in this society. Why do we feel the need to be like everyone else? Suggesting that maybe Thai people might not like what they are, that they are inferior and wishes to be in trend like the others, to be as white as them, to have what they have…
So then we are not all equal…
